Ultima 2 Preamplifier
Ultima Pre 2 is the preamplifier for a system with a great many sources and no wish to compromise on any of them. Eight inputs — four balanced, four unbalanced — each individually selectable and gain-matched, so a phono stage and a streamer can be levelled to each other once and left alone. Signal-to-noise is -116 dB and gain is selectable from half to three times, which lets it partner almost any power amplifier: one stereo Ultima 5, or a pair of Ultima 3 monoblocks. There is a recording loop, a headphone output on the front for late evenings, and three trigger outputs so the whole rack wakes on one button. Eighteen kilos. Below Ultima Pre, above Pre 3.
