Your system has many sources — a streamer, a turntable with phono stage, a CD player, a tuner — and you refuse to compromise on any of them. Ultima Pre 2 has eight inputs, four balanced and four not, each selectable separately and adjustable in level. Matched to each other once, you never reach for the volume knob again when switching. Its noise floor is so low that Chord says it in one line: your source sounds like your source and like nothing else. A headphone output on the front for late evenings, a recording loop, and three triggers so the whole rack wakes on one button. It suits one stereo Ultima 5 or a pair of Ultima 3. Eighteen kilos. For a turntable a phono stage is still needed, and above it stands only the dual-mono Ultima Pre.
