Chord Electronics BerTTi DAC
You have a Hugo TT 2 and speakers in the same room, and you want the Ultima circuit of the big Chord amplifiers underneath, in the same 23.5-centimetre footprint. BerTTi is the smallest and cheapest power amplifier that carries it. The error correction measures the signal and corrects it before the output stage, not after, and that is what keeps a small amplifier composed when the music gets difficult: an orchestral climax stays a climax and doesn't turn to mush. Fully balanced, two power supplies with an extra rail so the MOSFETs never run short of voltage. The Speaker Shack made it Product of the Year 2024. 55 watts into 8 ohms is enough for a monitor or a modest floorstander in an ordinary room; for big, stubborn speakers in a big room, the story starts at Ultima 5.
