Chord Electronics Dave DAC
You have upgraded your digital chain a few times already and you wonder where it ends. At Chord, it ends here. DAVE is the converter all the others descend from, and what it does to a recording is not show more detail but straighten out time: every note starts when it started and stops when it stopped. A record you have known for twenty years doesn't sound different, it sounds truer. It controls volume itself without throwing anything away, so it can drive a power amplifier directly, and it is at the same time the best headphone amplifier in the house. With a turntable it does nothing — for that you add a Prima — and whoever buys it buys the last converter; after it comes only a Quartet in front.
