Ultima 5 Stereo Amp

Ultima 5 is where the Ultima range begins, and it is a stereo amplifier rather than a mono block — one box instead of two, which is most of why it costs what it does. Three hundred watts per channel into 8 ohms, 500 into 4, from thirty-two proprietary MOSFETs and the dual-feed-forward error-correction circuit the whole range shares. It descends from the SPM 1200 MK II, the amplifier most often called the definitive Chord of its generation, and it is the model to choose unless the loudspeakers really do need a mono block each: enough power for all but the most demanding, in a chassis twenty-two kilos and one shelf. Everything above it is mono from here on.
