TToby

TToby is the power amplifier the Hugo TT was drawn around — the same footprint, the same brushed case, meant to sit under it and turn the DAC's XLR output into 100 watts. Class AB with sliding bias and Chord's own MOSFETs, fully balanced from input to speaker terminal, and the heat leaves through a four-fan plenum chamber inside the casework rather than through heatsinks, which is why the outside stays smooth. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA in, one pair of speakers out. 100 W into 4 ohms, signal-to-noise better than -83 dB, 3.75 kg. Joenit stocks it in silver. The ULTIMA-based BerTTi now sits beside it in the same chassis family; the TToby is the one that started that shape.

This is an exceptionally good power amplifier – it just happens to be small, which will no doubt expand the possibilities for its use beyond partnering its matching HugoTT DAC/headphone preamp.
