Chord Electronics Hugo M Scaler DAC
Je hebt een Qutest, Hugo 2, Hugo TT 2 of DAVE, je bent er gelukkig mee, en je vraagt je af wat de volgende stap is zonder hem te vervangen. De M Scaler is die stap: geen omzetter, hij staat vóór de jouwe en geeft hem een beter signaal. Van een cd-bestand van 44,1 kHz maakt hij met een filter van een miljoen taps 705,6 kHz — via de dubbele BNC naar een Chord-omzetter 768. Wat dat doet hoor je het duidelijkst op je oudste cd's: de aanzet van een noot valt op haar plaats, een drukke passage wordt een kamer vol mensen in plaats van een menigte. Zelfde voetafdruk als het TT-gamma, dus hij stapelt. Alleen doet hij niets; en wie verder wil, heeft sinds kort de Quartet.
