Chord Electronics Hugo 2 DAC
Je wil één Chord die twee levens leidt: overdag aan je hoofdtelefoon op de trein, 's avonds als omzetter in je installatie. Daarom is Hugo 2 het scharnier van Chord. Onderweg drijft hij zowat elke hoofdtelefoon aan, zes uur op batterij, en bij lang luisteren haalt zijn crossfeed de muziek uit het midden van je hoofd, iets meer als luidsprekers in een kamer. Vier filters laten je het hoog kiezen, van scherp tot warm, naar opname en humeur. Thuis zet je hem in lijnstand, neemt de afstandsbediening, en hij is een vaste component — dezelfde omzetting als in de Qutest. What Hi-Fi? maakte hem Best DAC elk jaar van 2017 tot 2022. Hij laadt nog via micro-USB, niet USB-C, en wie nooit onderweg luistert, koopt dezelfde omzetting goedkoper als Qutest.
